SHREVEPORT, LA – Drivers across Shreveport are feeling a bit more pain at the pump this week as average gasoline prices have climbed 7.2 cents per gallon, bringing the local average to $2.74/g, according to GasBuddy’s latest survey of 177 stations in the area. That’s 22 cents higher than a month ago, but still 34.7 cents cheaper than this time last year.
Statewide, the average gas price in Louisiana rose 7.4 cents to $2.80/g, while neighboring cities also saw increases: Little Rock climbed nearly 5 cents to $2.86/g, and Dallas saw a significant surge of 26.6 cents, reaching $3.02/g.
The national average for gasoline rose 10.6 cents this week to $3.21/g, though analysts suggest this may be a temporary spike.
“While the national average price of gasoline saw its largest weekly gain of the year, it likely won’t last long,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Oil prices have plummeted amid growing concerns about the global economy, significant new U.S. tariffs, and faster-than-expected production increases from OPEC+.”
De Haan notes that if these global pressures persist, motorists may soon see gas prices decline across the board, with the national average potentially dipping below $3 per gallon in the coming weeks.
