SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, La. — The Super Retriever Series Crown Championship will return to Shreveport-Bossier this fall for its sixth year, bringing retriever trials and canine athletic competitions to northwest Louisiana from Oct. 23 through Nov. 5.
The event, presented by Purina Pro Plan in partnership with the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission and Visit Shreveport-Bossier, will bring qualified retriever teams, handlers and spectators to the area for nearly two weeks of competition.
“We are proud to welcome the Super Retriever Series back to Shreveport-Bossier for a sixth year,” said Sara Nelms, director of sports for the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “The Crown Championship brings competitors and fans from across the country to our community while showcasing the outdoor sporting abilities of our destination that make our community such a natural home for this event.”
The SRS Super Dock will open the championship activities Oct. 23-25 at the Louisiana Boardwalk behind Bass Pro Shops. The three-day competition includes Super Fly, a canine long-jump event; Super V, a height competition; and Raider Run, a head-to-head timed sprint.
Pet Palooza is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Louisiana Boardwalk. The family-oriented event will include vendors, food trucks, pet activities, costume contests, pet adoptions and giveaways alongside the Super Dock competition.
Activities will then shift to the Crown Championship Retriever Trials. The annual “Big Hats & Bowties” Owners Social and Crown Championship Banquet, presented by the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29.
Competition begins Friday, Oct. 30, when qualified Open and Amateur retriever teams begin competing for SRS Crown Champion titles.
Crown Championship events will be free and open to the public. The Retriever Trials also will be livestreamed daily through the Super Retriever Series YouTube channel, with select championship programming scheduled to air on Waypoint TV.
The Super Retriever Series combines retriever trials with canine athletic competitions and features sporting dogs and handlers from around the country.
