BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry reminds voters that the Municipal Primary Election will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
To help voters prepare, the Secretary of State’s office highlights the following important dates and deadlines:
- Voter Registration Deadline:
- The deadline to register to vote online through the GeauxVote system is March 8.
- Early Voting:
- Early voting runs from March 15 to March 22 (excluding Sunday, March 16) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Early voting locations can be found at voterportal.sos.la.gov/earlyvoting.
- Absentee Ballot Deadlines:
- The deadline to request an absentee ballot (except for military and overseas voters) is March 25 by 4:30 p.m.
- Absentee ballots can be requested online through the Voter Portal or in writing through the Registrar of Voters Office.
- Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the parish Registrar of Voters Office by March 28 at 4:30 p.m. (except for military and overseas voters).
- Due to potential mail delays, voters are encouraged to allow extra time for absentee ballots to reach their destination.
- Election Day Voting:
- Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
- Find polling locations and sample ballots by downloading the GeauxVote Mobile App or visiting www.GeauxVote.com and logging into the Voter Portal.
- Voters are encouraged to sign up for electronic notifications via the GeauxVote Mobile App.
- Voter Identification:
- Voters must present a valid ID, such as:
- A Louisiana driver’s license
- A Louisiana Special ID card
- A generally recognized photo ID with name and signature (e.g., passport)
- A digital license via the LA Wallet App

- Election Results:
- Live election results will be available via the GeauxVote Mobile App or online at www.sos.la.gov.
