Bossier Schools Superintendent Jason Rowland has been named a 2024-25 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), less than a year after assuming office. This prestigious honor is awarded annually to up to 25 superintendents nationwide with fewer than five years of experience who exhibit dynamic, forward-thinking leadership rooted in effective communication. This year’s nominations reached record numbers, underscoring the competitive and significant nature of the recognition.

“Communication is a core foundational piece at Bossier Schools,” Rowland said. “We take tremendous pride in harnessing this evolving platform to communicate and connect with our students, employees, and community, further enhancing our district. I am deeply humbled to be included among this class of superintendents who are thinking outside the box and utilizing innovative communication strategies to advance their school systems.”
A Commitment to Communication and Innovation
Since stepping into his role, Rowland has made communication a cornerstone of his leadership. Among his notable initiatives:
- On the Record with Bossier Schools: A bi-monthly YouTube podcast that highlights student successes and positive stories while serving as a trusted source of information about public education in the district.
- District Rebranding: The launch of a refreshed Bossier Parish School Board (BPSB) logo, a new district app and notification platform, and an updated website, all aimed at improving outreach and engagement.
- Leadership Development Programs: The establishment of the Teacher Advisory Council, the Empowering Principals mentoring program, and Assistant Principal Leadership Training to cultivate future school leaders.
- Long-Range Planning Committee: A proactive initiative to address growth in Bossier Parish, ensuring the district evolves alongside the community.
- Community Partnerships: Strengthened relationships with civic organizations and Barksdale Air Force Base leadership, culminating in Rowland’s upcoming induction as an Honorary Commander of the 96th Bomb Squadron.
National Recognition
Rowland’s inclusion in the Superintendents to Watch program places him among an elite group of education leaders dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and driving progress within their districts. He will be formally recognized at the NSPRA 2025 National Seminar in Washington, D.C., this July.
This recognition highlights Rowland’s commitment to not only enhancing communication within the Bossier Schools system but also ensuring the district remains a model of excellence in education and leadership.
