(The Center Square) – Caddo Parish District Attorney James Stewart won reelection Tuesday, defeating three challengers to secure another term as the parish’s top prosecutor.
Stewart received 54% of the vote, defeating state Sen. Alan Seabaugh and two other candidates, according to unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State.
Seabaugh finished second with 41% of the vote, or 29,568 votes. Patricia “Pat” Gilley received 3% or 1,853 votes, while Lauren Ray Anderson received 2%, or 1,726 votes.
Stewart, who has served as district attorney since 2015, faced a tough reelection against Seabaugh, with both candidates raising and spending large amounts of money.
