BATON ROUGE, La. — Entergy Louisiana is launching a $2 million assistance program offering eligible residential customers a one-time $100 utility bill credit through local United Way organizations.
Applications open Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 9 a.m. and will be accepted while funds are available. The program is funded by Entergy shareholders.
In northwest Louisiana, United Way of Northwest Louisiana will administer applications for customers in Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, De Soto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, Webster and Winn parishes.
The program serves customers living below the federal poverty level and households classified as ALICE, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Those households earn above the federal poverty level but below the cost of basic living expenses in their communities.
Entergy Louisiana said the expanded eligibility is intended to reach households that may not qualify for traditional assistance programs.
“This was designed for our customers who often fall into the gap between qualifying for traditional assistance and still struggling to make ends meet,” said Nyka Scott, Entergy Louisiana customer service vice president.
Applicants must provide a photo ID and income documentation for each household income earner age 18 or older. Accepted income records include the first page of a 2025 tax return, 2025 W-2 forms, the most recent pay stubs, Social Security Administration 1099 or 1042-S forms, or benefit determination letters.
Customers can upload documents and submit applications online through their participating United Way. In-person assistance varies by organization, and customers needing computer access can visit local libraries.
Entergy Louisiana said it will notify potentially eligible customers by email and encourage them to apply.
“Financial hardship looks different from one Louisiana community to the next, but we know far too many families are struggling to keep up with the cost of everyday essentials,” said Sarah Berthelot, president and CEO of the Louisiana Association of United Ways.
Northwest Louisiana customers can find application information at unitedwaynwla.org/2-1-1/. Nine United Way organizations will administer the program across Entergy Louisiana’s service territory.
Entergy Louisiana provides electricity to more than 1.1 million customers in 58 parishes.
