Proposed adjustment would increase average small commercial bills by about $24.74 per month
SHREVEPORT, La. — Delta North Louisiana Gas Company is seeking regulatory approval for an approximately $8.5 million annual rate increase that would affect residential and commercial natural gas customers across 10 north Louisiana parishes.
Delta North filed an evaluation report Sept. 17 with the Louisiana Public Service Commission under the company’s Gas Operation Rate Stabilization Plan for the test year ending June 30, 2026.
If approved as filed, the rate adjustment would take effect Dec. 16.
The company estimates an average residential customer using 39 CCF of natural gas would see a monthly bill increase of approximately $4.16.
For a small commercial firm-service customer using 232 CCF, the estimated increase is approximately $24.74 per month.
The affected parishes are Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, De Soto, Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita, Union and Webster.
According to the public notice, Delta North’s filing reflects an earned return on equity of 5.94%. Under the cost-of-service sharing mechanism contained in the company’s Rate Stabilization Plan, that return triggers a rate adjustment.
The proposed $8.5 million increase includes impacts associated with the federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
The latest request follows a previous Rate Stabilization Plan filing by Delta North for the test year ending June 30, 2025. That filing sought an approximately $6.3 million annual increase and estimated increases of $3.08 per month for an average residential customer and $17.75 for a small commercial customer.
Delta North provides natural gas distribution service to residential and commercial customers in north Louisiana.
The company’s current tariffs are filed with the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Delta Utilities, Delta North’s parent company, also publishes informational copies of its north Louisiana tariffs and monthly purchased-gas adjustments.
The 2026 filing and its supporting documents are available through the Louisiana Public Service Commission’s Records Division.
