BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission will hold two public open houses in late September as it seeks community input on updates to the area’s Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code.
The first open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bossier Central Library, 7204 Hutchison Drive. A second session will be held Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shady Grove Community Center, 3949 Wayne Ave.
The MPC said residents can attend either meeting and provide input on transportation, housing, businesses, parks, community services and other issues affecting future growth and development.
The Comprehensive Plan is intended to guide development, infrastructure, housing, transportation, parks and community services over the next 10 to 20 years. The Unified Development Code, or UDC, is being updated to align with the comprehensive plan, streamline regulations and improve usability.
The planning commission’s jurisdiction includes Bossier City and portions of unincorporated Bossier Parish within 5 miles of the city. The MPC is responsible for land-use planning and development services within that area. Bossier City
According to the MPC, public input gathered during the process will help inform planning decisions involving mobility, safety, connectivity, housing options, business development, workforce needs and community spaces.
Both open houses are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. The Bossier Central Library address listed for the Sept. 29 meeting is also confirmed by Bossier Parish Libraries. bossierlibrary.org
