SWEPCO Receives 2024 Excellence in ENERGY STAR Marketing Award

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as the recipient of the 2024 ENERGY STAR Excellence in ENERGY STAR Marketing award. This prestigious accolade highlights SWEPCO’s exceptional dedication to energy efficiency and its significant contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

From January 1 through October 2023, SWEPCO’s Energy Efficiency & Consumer Programs Team achieved remarkable results, capturing over 16.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of annual energy savings. This achievement translates to preventing greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 2,571 gasoline-powered vehicles from the road. These savings were realized across SWEPCO’s entire service area, benefiting more than 552,000 residential customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.

Ann Bailey, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Product Labeling Branch and Climate Protection Partnerships Division, commended SWEPCO’s outstanding commitment to energy efficiency and the ENERGY STAR program. “SWEPCO demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication in energy efficiency marketing,” said Bailey. “Their promotion of ENERGY STAR certified product upgrades resulted in over 10.3 million impressions and significant energy savings.”

SWEPCO is dedicated to assisting homeowners and businesses in improving energy efficiency through a range of resources, tools, and incentives available across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. These initiatives promote the adoption of energy-efficient home upgrades, aligning with SWEPCO’s sustainability goals.

The SWEPCO Energy Efficiency & Consumer Programs team has integrated the ENERGY STAR platform into its residential programs, enhancing their value and effectiveness. Through extensive outreach efforts, including over 10.3 million impressions of ENERGY STAR-specific content, SWEPCO has increased awareness among its customers about the importance of energy efficiency.
