Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry Appoints Susan Bonnett Bourgeois as Secretary of LED

Governor Jeff Landry has named Susan Bonnett Bourgeois as the Secretary of the Department of Louisiana Economic Development (LED). The announcement came during the Committee of 100 Breakfast at Washington Mardi Gras, where Governor Landry expressed confidence in Bourgeois’s ability to drive economic progress in the state.

In his statement, Governor Landry emphasized Bourgeois’s suitability for the role and her potential to elevate Louisiana’s economic standing among its southern counterparts. “I am excited to announce that Susan Bourgeois will lead the Louisiana Department of Economic Development. Susan is exactly what this department needs to move Louisiana’s economy forward and put us on the playing field with our southern neighbors. I look forward to the great work she will do for our state,” said Governor Jeff Landry.

Bourgeois, in her response, expressed gratitude for the appointment and conveyed her commitment to fostering a prosperous business environment in Louisiana. “I am honored that Governor Landry has chosen me to help lead our State into the prosperous, vibrant future we deserve. Louisiana is blessed with resources other states can only envy – we have spoils of riches in natural resources, geographic positioning, and deep-rooted legacy industries,” she stated. Bourgeois also highlighted her dedication to creating opportunities that would keep local talent within the state.

Susan Bonnett Bourgeois brings over three decades of experience in organizational development, strategic planning, project management, fundraising, and advocacy. Currently serving as President of SBB Consulting and President Emeritus of the Northshore Community Foundation, she played a pivotal role in growing the foundation into an $86 million philanthropic engine for South Louisiana. Bourgeois has previously held leadership positions in Governor M. J. Foster’s Administration and has been actively involved in various community organizations, showcasing her commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation.

Acknowledging Bourgeois’s visionary leadership, Governor Landry’s appointment aligns with his vision for a thriving Louisiana economy. Susan Bonnett Bourgeois and her husband, Mace Bourgeois, reside in Covington, Louisiana, and have four grown children.
