Mudbug Madness Festival Returns for 40th Anniversary: Music, Food, and Fun Await

The 40th Annual SWEPCO Mudbug Madness Festival is back on the riverfront this Memorial Day weekend, promising a jubilant celebration filled with music, food, and entertainment for all ages. Taking place from May 24 to May 26, the festival will run from 11 am to 11 pm each day. Entry is free until 5 pm on Friday, with a $10.00 admission fee thereafter. Children under 10 and individuals with a Military ID can enter for free, while a 3-day pass is available at the gate for $15.00.

Mudbug Madness will boast two dynamic stages hosting 30 bands, along with the Kids on the Bayou Stage and a plethora of activities. Attendees can look forward to artisan booths, delectable food vendors, exhilarating crawfish eating contests, festival souvenirs, spacious green areas, a dedicated Latin night, and a variety of refreshing beverages, including boiled crawfish.

Headlining the Centerpoint Energy Stage, presented by NBC 6 and Townsquare Media, are Grammy-award winning Terrance Simien, Cowboy Mouth, Dwayne Dopsie, and country recording artist Sammy Kershaw. Other notable performers on this stage include Diki Du & the Zydeco Krewe, Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble, Blue Crab Redemption, Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin’ Cajuns, and Craig Wayne Boyd.

The FOX 33 Swamp Stage, presented by Cumulus Radio, will showcase rising country star Reed Foley, Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs, Barksdale Bubble, Pocket Change, and Chasin Benjamins, among others.

A highlight of this year’s festival will be Latin Night on the Swamp Stage, taking place on Sunday, May 26, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Presented by 318 Latino and KSLA, the event will feature three Latino Bands: Los Cazadores de Cerro, Boyz of Kumbia, and La Actualidad Nortena.

Continuing the festivities, Kids on the Bayou will offer enchanting performances by magicians and dancers, interactive activities, a Shreveport Aquarium Mining Booth, a Nerf Maze, and various art and food vendors.

Special events include the popular Celebrity Crawfish Eating Contest, the Men’s Crawfish Eating Contest, the Crawfish Calling Contest, and the Women’s Crawfish Eating Contest. Additionally, attendees can enjoy $5.00 Lunch Specials and Happy Hour $3.00 beverage prices from 11 am to 7 pm on Friday, along with the return of the Shiner Bock Beer Garden and the Mudbug Madness Treasure Hunt sponsored by the Louisiana Association of the Blind.
