Those who donate blood save lives. That’s a message the LifeShare Blood Center and its supporting partner Waitr hope donors in the Shreveport area remember as the United We Give campaign kicks off today, Thursday, June 30.
The annual blood drive runs three days through Saturday, July 2. Anyone giving blood will receive a number of incentives, including a “United We Give, United We Live” T-shirt, a free Box Combo from Raising Cane’s, and a code for a free delivery from Waitr.
LifeShare says it typically sees fewer donations this time of year, and as a result is still trying to replenish its shelves to keep up with demand during the summer months. The struggles are even worse this year, as blood centers around the nation are reporting shortages not seen in over a decade.
All LifeShare Donor Centers have extended operation hours for the event.
- Thursday, June 30: 8:00am-7:00pm
- Friday, July 1: 8:00am-7:00pm
- Saturday, July 2: 8:00am-3:00pm
The local LifeShare donation facilities where you can donate are located at 8910 Linwood Avenue in Shreveport;1523 Doctors Drive in Bossier City; and 4020 Summerhill Road in Texarkana.
Donors can make an appointment at www.lifeshare.org/give and, of course, walk-ins are also welcome.
United We Give serves as a reminder that we are all reliant on the community blood supply. Statistics show one in every three people will use blood at some point in their lives. To maintain the needed blood supply, the community must unite during these most challenging times to do their part.
