SHREVEPORT, LA — Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ) has been named the official beneficiary of Artport 2025, the region’s signature art and culture event that supports impactful nonprofits across Northwest Louisiana.
Hosted annually at Shreveport Regional Airport, Artport transforms a working aviation hangar into a dynamic gallery space showcasing local and regional art. Each year, the event highlights a nonprofit that serves the community through innovative and compassionate programming. In 2025, that spotlight will shine on VYJ, an organization with more than 40 years of service to children, youth, and families in crisis.
“We are honored and grateful to be chosen as the beneficiary of Artport 2025,” said Alex Person, Director of Community Engagement for VYJ. “This opportunity not only provides vital support for our programs but also raises awareness of the work we do to bring hope, healing, and justice to the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Proceeds from Artport 2025 will support a range of VYJ’s restorative and preventative services, including:
- CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
- Youth Programs
- TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) training
- Families in Need of Services (FINS)
- Truancy Assessment and Service Center (TASC)
- Family Resource Center (FRC)
The organization also operates The Harbor, a hub for resources and programming that assists families in crisis across the region.
“This support will directly impact thousands of children and families by providing critical advocacy, education, and intervention services,” Person added.
Artport 2025 is scheduled for Fall 2025, with an official date and program details to be announced soon. The event will include artwork from regional artists, live performances, interactive exhibits, and curated experiences designed to bring together art lovers, community leaders, and philanthropists.
“We believe in the power of community and creativity,” said Abigail Simmons, Director of Artport. “VYJ embodies the mission of using compassion and innovation to make a difference, and we are thrilled to support their mission through this year’s event.”
