LOUISIANA — United States Postal Service facilities will be closed nationwide on July 4 in observance of Independence Day, with regular mail delivery and retail services resuming July 6.
Post Offices will operate under normal schedules on July 3, with full service and delivery available ahead of the holiday closure.
The agency said customers can continue to access a range of services online during the closure, including purchasing stamps, ordering shipping supplies, placing mail on hold, submitting change-of-address requests and printing prepaid shipping labels.
Self-service kiosks will also remain available in select retail locations, offering options such as postage printing for Priority Mail and international shipping, stamp purchases, package weighing and mailing, and tracking services. Many kiosks operate 24 hours a day.
As part of ongoing retail modernization efforts, the Postal Service is expanding additional self-service features at some locations. These include rapid drop-off stations for prepaid packages, label printing via QR codes provided by merchants, and smart lockers for package pickup and drop-off.
The Postal Service said it is also marking the nation’s 250th anniversary with themed merchandise and packaging, including patriotic Priority Mail envelopes and boxes available in early July while supplies last.
The agency operates as an independent federal establishment and funds its operations primarily through the sale of postage and services rather than taxpayer support. It currently serves more than 170 million addresses nationwide and is pursuing a long-term modernization plan aimed at improving service and financial sustainability.
