SHREVEPORT, La. — The U.S. Army Recruiting Company in Shreveport will commemorate the Army’s 250th birthday with a series of cake-cutting ceremonies and proclamations across North Louisiana, recognizing both the history of service and the continued support of local communities.
Celebrations will take place in Shreveport, Bossier City, Ruston, Monroe, Alexandria, and Natchitoches. The public is invited to attend events hosted at various mayoral offices throughout the week leading up to the Army’s official birthday on June 14.
This year’s milestone honors 250 years of Army service to the United States, both in wartime and peace. Local mayors will participate by reading official Army Day proclamations, declaring June 14 as Army Day in their respective cities.
Public events are scheduled as follows:
- June 9 – Natchitoches City Mayor’s Office, 5:30 p.m.
- June 11 – Alexandria City Mayor’s Office, 2:00 p.m.
- June 12 – Monroe City Mayor’s Office, 11:00 a.m.
- June 13 – Shreveport City Mayor’s Office, 10:00 a.m.
- June 13 – Ruston City Mayor’s Office, 10:00 a.m.
- June 13 – West Monroe City Mayor’s Office, 10:00 a.m.
- June 13 – Bossier City Mayor’s Office, 10:30 a.m.
