SHREVEPORT, La. — The Shreveport Railroad Museum will host Train Day on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 142 North Common Street, featuring free activities, talks and tours celebrating the region’s railroad history.
The annual event will include tours of both the Shreveport Railroad Museum and the Shreveport Water Works Museum, as well as railroad memorabilia displays and model train exhibits. Attendees can also enjoy a lineup of guest presentations in the museum’s Ozone Room.
The schedule includes:
- 10:30 a.m. — Warren Caileff, “Fifty Years in a Darkroom”
- 11:00 a.m. — Steve Crise, “Rod Stewart’s Grand St. & Three Rivers Railroad”
- 1:00 p.m. — Charles Goodrich, “Fifty Years of Railroad Photography”
- 2:00 p.m. — Steve Sandifer, “T&P in North Louisiana: A Tribute to Billy Sandifer”
- 3:00 p.m. — Steve Crise, “Dark Territory – Photographing Trains at Night”
Guests can park across North Common Street, where sponsor SporTran will provide complimentary shuttle service to the museum entrance. The event is also supported by the Shreveport Downtown Development Authority.
Food vendors will include The Hot Dawg Hut and T&T’s Italian Ice, offering hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and frozen treats for purchase.
Handicap-accessible parking will be available on the museum grounds. Visitors are encouraged to bring children and leashed dogs.
