SHREVEPORT, La. — The Arc Caddo-Bossier has launched a holiday gift-giving initiative to bring Christmas gifts to residents of its community homes, many of whom have limited family support or need assistance to make the season special.
The organization reported strong early participation from local donors. Within days of announcing the program, community members had already fulfilled nearly two complete Amazon wish lists for residents, ensuring they will receive personalized gifts on Christmas morning.
The initiative highlights individual wish lists for residents, including those who enjoy activities such as Bible study, wrestling, bowling, Special Olympics participation, church fellowship, outdoor walks, dance, art, and classic television. Residents featured in the effort include Robert, Hunter, Adrienne, Jimmie, Trey, Patrick, Norris, Dennis, and Rory.
The Arc Caddo-Bossier operates eight community homes in Northwest Louisiana that serve more than 50 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The homes provide staffed, year-round support in a residential setting.
“By choosing a gift from someone’s wish list, you can bring a smile to their face and remind them they’re valued members of our community,” said Deborah Hill, director of community homes at The Arc Caddo-Bossier.
Community members can view resident profiles and access the Amazon wish lists at the organization’s holiday giving webpage.
