Shreveport, LA – SWEPCO, in collaboration with SporTran and the City of Shreveport, has introduced a vibrant new wrap on SporTran’s latest electric bus. The bold red design promotes SWEPCO’s customer assistance message, featuring the tagline “We’re Here to Help,” alongside a QR code and link to SWEPCO’s online bill assistance tool at SWEPCO.com/billhelp.
The wrap not only enhances public transportation visibility but also serves as a rolling reminder of the resources available to help customers manage their utility bills. By scanning the QR code or visiting the website, customers can log into their SWEPCO account, complete a brief survey, and access tailored solutions for their energy needs.
Promoting Sustainability and Assistance
The bus itself, the Proterra ZX5, exemplifies state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology. Powered by four batteries and featuring regenerative braking to extend its range, the bus is designed for efficiency and passenger comfort, with 38 seats, accessibility features, and essential safety equipment.
“We are excited to visibly promote our message of help for our customers,” said William Bradford, Jr., SWEPCO’s Vice President of External Affairs. “At SWEPCO, ‘We’re Here to Help’ with tools and resources, and that’s a message we’re happy to have rolling through the streets of our community.”
The initiative aligns with SWEPCO’s ongoing efforts to promote electric transportation and support sustainable energy solutions in partnership with SporTran and the City of Shreveport. SporTran’s commitment to clean energy and low-emission public transportation makes the collaboration a natural fit.
“At SporTran, we take pride in powering our fleet with clean energy vehicles like our Proterra EV buses,” said Dinero Washington, SporTran’s CEO. “We welcome SWEPCO’s message of help as a mobile reminder to the community.”
Timely Assistance for Winter Heating Costs
The campaign comes as Louisiana opens applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a federally funded initiative to help residents with winter heating costs. LIHEAP funds are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis through parish offices.
“We want to make sure SWEPCO customers know help is available and the time to apply is now,” said Bradford. “A helpful place to start is by logging into your account and completing the survey at swepco.com/billhelp.”
Managing Seasonal Billing Challenges
As the holiday season stretches household budgets, SWEPCO is committed to providing resources to help customers manage utility bills.
“We encourage anyone who may need assistance to explore our various programs designed to support them through seasonal billing challenges,” said Brett Mattison, SWEPCO President.
SWEPCO customers can access personalized assistance options by using the QR code on the bus or visiting swepco.com/billhelp. By answering a few simple questions, customers can discover programs tailored to their needs.
With its latest initiative, SWEPCO underscores its commitment to sustainability and customer support, making a meaningful impact for both the community and the environment.
