BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry is reminding voters in the 14th and 23rd Senatorial Districts to mark their calendars for the Special Primary Election on Saturday, February 15. Secretary Landry has outlined several key dates and important information to ensure voters are prepared for Election Day.
Important Election Dates and Deadlines
- Voter Registration Deadlines:
- In-Person, Mail, or OMV Office: January 15
- Online (GeauxVote Registration System): January 25
- Early Voting:
- Dates: February 1 – February 8 (excluding Sunday, February 2)
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Locations: Early voting sites can be found at voterportal.sos.la.gov/earlyvoting.
- Absentee Voting:
- Deadline to Request an Absentee Ballot: February 11 by 4:30 p.m.
- Requests can be made online via the Voter Portal or through the Registrar of Voters Office.
- Deadline to Return a Voted Absentee Ballot: February 14 by 4:30 p.m. (excludes military and overseas voters).
- Absentee voters using USPS are encouraged to allow additional time for delivery.
- Deadline to Request an Absentee Ballot: February 11 by 4:30 p.m.
Election Day Information
- Polling hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone in line at 8 p.m. will be permitted to vote.
- Voter ID requirements: Voters must bring one of the following:
- Louisiana driver’s license
- Louisiana Special ID card
- Recognized photo ID with name and signature (e.g., passport)
- Digital license via LA Wallet
- Finding polling locations and sample ballots:
- Download the GeauxVote Mobile app for smartphones.
- Visit www.GeauxVote.com and log in to the Voter Portal.
- Election results: Real-time results will be available on GeauxVote Mobile and at www.sos.la.gov.
