SHREVEPORT, La. – Some of the nation’s top defense experts and military leaders will convene in Shreveport on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, for the 4th annual Nuclear Triad Symposium at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS). The daylong event will focus on the evolving role of America’s nuclear deterrent in an era marked by global competition and strategic challenges.
The symposium, titled “Triad Forces in International Competition and Conflict: Challenges and Opportunities,” will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the LSUS University Center. It will be followed by a networking reception hosted by the Committee of 100 and the LSUS Alumni Association at the LSUS Collaboratory.
Presented by BRF, LSUS and Peter Huessy of the National Institute for Deterrence Studies (NIDS), the event will bring together national security leaders, defense contractors, academic partners and strategic thinkers from across the country.
Speakers and panelists will include representatives from Air Force Global Strike Command, the U.S. Navy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, 8th Air Force, 20th Air Force, 307th Bomb Wing and other key components of the U.S. nuclear triad. The agenda includes discussions on modernization, strategic policy, and the future of deterrence amid rising geopolitical tensions.
Registration is required for all attendees—including speakers—and is available for both in-person and virtual participation. The event is free and open to the public.
In addition to the main symposium, a classified workshop for cleared defense contractors will be held the following day, June 25, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at BRF. The classified session is separate from the public event.
Now in its fourth year, the Nuclear Triad Symposium has become a signature event in the Shreveport-Bossier region, reflecting its close ties to the nation’s strategic defense infrastructure and the ongoing mission of nearby Barksdale Air Force Base.
