SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport increased 1.7 cents per gallon over the past week to $2.44 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations across the city. Despite the weekly uptick, local prices remain 22 cents lower than a month ago and nearly 10 cents below last year’s average.
The cheapest station in Shreveport was priced at $2.27 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive reached $2.73, a difference of 46 cents per gallon. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $2.16 to $3.39 per gallon, a spread of $1.23.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell 1.4 cents per gallon in the past week to $2.99, GasBuddy reported. The national average is down 14.8 cents from a month ago and 6.6 cents from one year ago. Diesel prices rose 2.5 cents to $3.66 per gallon.
Neighboring markets also saw mixed movements. In Little Rock, prices fell 8.7 cents to $2.46 per gallon. Dallas drivers paid an average of $2.42 per gallon, down 19.8 cents from the previous week. Louisiana’s statewide average declined 3.1 cents to $2.52 per gallon.
“The national average once again briefly dipped below the $3 per gallon mark, but the drop will be short-lived,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Gas prices are likely to rebound soon in the Great Lakes states due to ongoing refinery challenges, while a new snag at a California refinery may slow the pace of declines on the West Coast.”
De Haan added that OPEC+ recently announced an additional boost to oil production for December, but signaled a pause in further increases through the first quarter of next year. He expects national prices to hover in the low $3 range until refinery issues are resolved.
According to historical GasBuddy data, Shreveport drivers paid $2.53 per gallon on this date last year, compared with a national average of $3.05. Prices in the city were as high as $3.13 in 2022 and as low as $1.74 in 2020.
