Shreveport Gas Prices Hold Steady for Memorial Day Week

SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in the Shreveport area remained unchanged over the past week, holding steady at $2.60 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 local stations. Prices are 2.6 cents lower than a month ago and 40.4 cents lower than this time last year.

While the local average stayed flat, prices still vary widely across the area. As of Sunday, the lowest price reported in Shreveport was $2.41/gallon, while the highest was $2.99/gallon—a 58-cent difference. Statewide, gas prices ranged from $2.29 to $3.39/gallon.

Diesel prices also trended downward, with the national average falling 3.2 cents over the week to $3.476 per gallon.

National Trends

Across the country, the average gas price also remained unchanged at $3.13/gallon, though it’s still 3.1 cents higher than a month ago and 43 cents cheaper than a year ago.

“While the national average didn’t fall quite as far as anticipated for Memorial Day, it was still one of the most affordable since 2021—and, when adjusted for inflation, among the cheapest in nearly a decade,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

“As we move into the heart of summer, I believe we’re likely to see a relatively stable stretch for gas prices as refinery maintenance wraps up. Don’t expect the national average to rise above $3.30 per gallon, nor drop much below $3 for now,” he added.
