SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport rose less than a penny over the past week to $2.72 per gallon, according to a survey of 177 stations conducted by GasBuddy.
Prices in the city are up 1.1 cents from last month and 11.4 cents from a year ago. The cheapest station in Shreveport was reported at $2.45 per gallon on Sunday, while the highest was $3.99, a difference of $1.54.
Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $2.42 to $3.99 per gallon. The statewide average stood at $2.74, down 1.4 cents from the previous week.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell 3.6 cents to $3.12 per gallon. The average is down 1.8 cents from a month ago and 2.8 cents lower than the same week last year. The average price of diesel dropped 2.6 cents to $3.66.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said most states should see continued declines as winter gasoline enters the market.
“While gas prices fell in more states than they rose last week, the West Coast continues to face challenges, with Oregon and Washington seeing some of the largest increases due to regional infrastructure issues,” De Haan said. “The good news is that the transition to cheaper winter gasoline begins tomorrow across most of the nation, and with improvements underway in the West Coast market, I expect that average gas prices will continue to decline in the weeks ahead in most states — assuming hurricane season remains quiet.”
In neighboring markets, prices averaged $2.71 in Little Rock, down 9.1 cents from a week ago; $2.92 in Dallas, up 21.2 cents; and $2.74 statewide in Louisiana, down 1.4 cents.
GasBuddy, which collects more than 11 million price reports a week from 150,000 U.S. stations, said Shreveport’s average price has ranged from $1.85 in 2020 to $3.32 in 2023 during the same mid-September period.
