Average gasoline prices in Shreveport have edged down 0.6 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $2.66 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations in the area. Prices are 6.7 cents lower than a month ago and stand nearly 24 cents below the same time last year.
Shreveport’s cheapest station reported $2.41 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive stood at $3.19—a spread of 78 cents. Across Louisiana, the lowest price recorded was $2.32 and the highest was $3.59, a difference of $1.27 per gallon.
The national average price of gasoline held steady at $3.09 per gallon. Year-over-year, U.S. drivers are paying about 28 cents less at the pump. Diesel prices nationally fell 1.9 cents last week to $3.671 per gallon.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said national averages remain stable as oil prices hover in the $60s. He noted that non-cycling markets, such as Louisiana, can expect little change heading into Labor Day. However, geopolitical developments—such as a potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine—could drive oil prices lower if sanctions are eased.
