GasBuddy analysts say the drop is part of a broader national trend.
“Nearly every state saw average gas prices decline for the second straight week, even as the nation celebrated July 4 with the lowest national average for Independence Day since 2020,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
De Haan noted that OPEC’s recent decision to increase production by 548,000 barrels per day in August could continue to put downward pressure on oil prices. Barring major hurricanes or escalated conflict in the Middle East, analysts say the national average could fall below $3 per gallon later this summer.
GasBuddy remains one of the most comprehensive sources for real-time gas price data, tracking prices at nearly 150,000 stations across the U.S. and Canada.
