WASHINGTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has opened nominations for the 2026 National Small Business Week Awards, which recognize outstanding small businesses and entrepreneurs across the country.
National Small Business Week, set for May 3–9, 2026, highlights the contributions of America’s more than 36 million small businesses. These businesses account for 99 percent of all U.S. companies, create two out of every three new jobs, and employ about half of the nation’s workforce.
“During National Small Business Week, we honor America’s job creators and the vital role they play in making our country the greatest in the world,” said SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler. “From farms to factories, hardworking small businesses are the engine of our economy, the heartbeat of local communities, and the foundation of our nation’s strength.”
SBA Regional Administrator Justin Crossie said the event provides an opportunity to spotlight small businesses in the South Central Region.
“National Small Business Week highlights the incredible achievements of the American entrepreneur and the small businesses they create,” Crossie said. “I look forward to recognizing and celebrating their hard work, innovation, and growth.”
A business owner from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam will be named a State Small Business Person of the Year. Those winners will then compete for the title of 2026 National Small Business Person of the Year, SBA’s top award.
In addition to state honors, the SBA will accept nominations in other categories, including small business exporting, disaster recovery, and federal procurement.
Nominations must be submitted electronically by 6 a.m. CT on Dec. 8, 2025. Guidelines, criteria, and nomination forms are available at sba.gov/nsbw.
