SHREVEPORT, La. — Robinson Film Center has launched a fundraising campaign, “Is This Seat Taken?”, to support theater improvements and film education initiatives across Northwest Louisiana.
The nonprofit arts and education organization is replacing seating in its two theaters, the Willis Knighton Theater with 126 seats and the Kennedy Theater with 46 seats, following a donation from the Noel Foundation. The upgrades are aimed at improving comfort, design, and the overall viewing experience.
Through the campaign, supporters can sponsor one or more seats and have a personalized plaque affixed in their name or in honor of another person, family, pet, company, or foundation. Each plaque will remain in place for at least five years.
“Robinson Film Center exists because this community believes in the power of film to educate, connect, and inspire,” said Wendell Riley, executive director of Robinson Film Center. “Naming a seat is a tangible way for patrons to show that belief, while directly supporting the spaces where film education, festivals, and shared cultural experiences happen every day.”
Seat-naming options include renewals for current plaque holders at $750 for a five-year term, new seat sponsorships at $1,000, and “Sweet Spot” seats—high-visibility options available for $2,500.
Current plaque holders have renewal priority through Jan. 18, 2026. Remaining seats will be available to the public beginning Jan. 19, 2026, with reservations accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Proceeds will benefit year-round programming, including film education initiatives that reach more than 6,000 students annually, as well as community screenings and major regional film festivals such as Louisiana Film Prize, OUTNorthLa, and CineNoir.
