SHREVEPORT, LA – The R.W. Norton Art Gallery has temporarily closed its American Wing on Monday, January 6, 2025, to begin a comprehensive renovation aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and preserving its extensive collection of American art.
The project includes freshly painted walls, updated gallery layouts, and a reimagined presentation of the museum’s diverse collection. These updates align with the museum’s mission to inspire, educate, and enrich the community through art and history.
“This renovation is an investment in the future of the R.W. Norton Art Foundation and the community which it serves,” said Emily Feazel, Designer of Exhibits and Special Events at the gallery. “We are committed to providing an exceptional experience for our visitors and preserving the integrity of our collections for years to come.”
Museum Access During Renovation
While the American Wing is under renovation, visitors can still enjoy the museum’s European collection, special exhibitions, and its renowned botanical gardens. Special programming and events will also continue as scheduled, ensuring a range of cultural opportunities remain available to the community.
The renovation is expected to be completed by early April. Updates on the project’s progress and plans for the wing’s reopening will be shared through the museum’s website and social media platforms.
