SHREVEPORT, La. — The Board of Directors of Providence House has unanimously selected Sharpel Welch as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective June 16, 2025.
Welch brings a wealth of leadership experience and community engagement to her new role. A well-known figure in the Shreveport-Bossier area, she has served in several leadership capacities and has been recognized for her professional achievements by numerous local and national organizations.
She holds both a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from Colorado Technical University Online and is expected to complete her Doctorate in Education with a focus on Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University shortly after stepping into her new role.
Welch has spent the past 15 years in leadership at Community Renewal and has an extensive background in both education and corporate training. She is a certified Achieve Global Trainer, DiSC Trainer, and B.E.S.T. Examiner. Additionally, she previously served as a Human Resources Professional Development Trainer at Lone Star College System in Houston, Texas.
A combat veteran of the United States Army, Welch brings a unique blend of service, leadership, and strategic vision to Providence House as it enters its next chapter.

A welcome reception will be held at Providence House to introduce Welch to supporters, donors, and community members who have long championed the organization’s mission.
