Old Minden Road Interchange Fully Reopened; Additional Ramp Closures Announced
BOSSIER CITY, LA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has reopened the I-20 westbound on-ramp from Old Minden Road, completing the full reconstruction of the Old Minden Road interchange in Bossier City. All ramps at this interchange are now officially open to traffic.
This milestone is part of the ongoing $127 million I-20 major rehabilitation project, which aims to significantly improve infrastructure throughout Bossier City. The westbound off-ramp at LA 72 (Old Minden Road) reopened earlier this week, and the newly reopened westbound on-ramp marks another major step in the project’s progress.
With the Old Minden interchange now fully operational, the contractor will move forward with reconstruction at nearby interchanges. Beginning the night of Thursday, May 29, 2025 (weather permitting), the I-20 westbound on-ramps from US 71 (Barksdale Boulevard) and LA 3 (Benton Road) will close for full removal and rebuilding. While access to southbound Barksdale Boulevard from this ramp will remain open, I-20 westbound access will be closed during construction.
In addition, the westbound on- and off-ramps at the LA 782-2 (Industrial Drive) interchange are expected to reopen in the coming days, following a full rebuild. Once reopened, attention will shift to the LA 3105 (Airline Drive) interchange, where the westbound ramps will be closed next. The eastbound ramps at Airline Drive are already closed and under demolition.
Meanwhile, the DOTD reports significant progress on concrete paving, drainage upgrades, and related construction activities across the project site. The I-20 rehabilitation remains on schedule for completion in late 2025 or early 2026, pending weather and other variables.

Safety Reminder:
DOTD urges all motorists to drive with caution through the active construction zones. Watch for work crews, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and exercise care whether driving, walking, or biking near the work areas.
