BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple has approved rate decreases for Progressive Security Insurance Company and Progressive Paloverde Insurance Company, affecting nearly 470,000 private passenger auto policyholders statewide.
Progressive Security received approval for an average 6.6% rate decrease on more than 270,000 policies, following a 3.2% reduction filed in July 2025. Progressive Paloverde was granted an average 4% decrease for nearly 200,000 policyholders.
Combined, the two companies represent about 23.5% of Louisiana’s private passenger auto insurance market. The new rates take effect Jan. 16 for new policies and Feb. 13 for renewals. Actual changes will vary based on individual risk factors.
Progressive attributed the decreases primarily to a decline in the frequency of claims.
