SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, La. – Colleges across northwest Louisiana have announced closures today in response to a winter storm warning affecting the region. Anticipated hazardous weather conditions, including freezing rain and icy roads, have prompted safety measures from Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA), Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS), and Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC).
Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA)
Southern University at Shreveport will close all campuses on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The university’s Emergency Response Team will continue to monitor weather and road conditions, providing updates as necessary for any changes to campus activities.
Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS)
LSUS announced a closure for Thursday, January 9, after consulting with the National Weather Service. Officials will evaluate conditions for Friday and provide updates by Thursday afternoon regarding the status of campus operations.
Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC)

BPCC plans to reopen and resume all classes on Monday, January 13.
Safety First
All institutions emphasized that the closures are being implemented to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff. Officials across the region urge residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during the winter storm.
