SHREVEPORT, La. – Nominations are now open for the 10th Annual Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman Awards, recognizing women who have made significant contributions to Northwest Louisiana through leadership, philanthropy, and community service.
The event will take place March 5, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Ridge Country Club. Sponsored by The Shreveport Times and Red River Bank, the awards honor local women who dedicate their time, expertise, and resources to improving their communities. Nominations are being accepted through Oct. 31, 2025.
Named in honor of civic leader, businesswoman, and philanthropist Virginia K. Shehee, who passed away in 2015, the awards celebrate women whose work often takes place behind the scenes. Twelve honorees will be recognized across two categories: six for the Most Influential Woman Award and six for the Most Influential Young Woman Award. One recipient in each category will be named the overall award winner for 2026.
Nominees for the Most Influential Woman Award must demonstrate leadership, integrity, and influence in their field or organization, with accomplishments in areas such as education, business development, the arts, or community service. Candidates may not hold a paid position with a nonprofit organization.
The Most Influential Young Woman Award will honor a high school junior or senior in Northwest Louisiana who exemplifies leadership, character, and philanthropy within her school or community.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Holy Angels, a nonprofit organization that serves about 185 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through education, job training, and community integration programs.
