SHREVEPORT, La. — The North Louisiana Economic Partnership has received a 2026 International Economic Development Council Bronze Award for Excellence in Economic Development for its EMPWR LA workforce development program.
The program was recognized in the Postsecondary Education Partnership category as part of IEDC’s annual Excellence in Economic Development Awards. The organization announced 226 awards across 26 categories this year.
EMPWR LA is designed to connect people with skills, certifications and employment opportunities for high-demand manufacturing careers across North Louisiana. The initiative brings together education and industry partners as part of an effort to develop the region’s manufacturing workforce.
NLEP said the award recognizes the partnerships supporting the program and the involvement of education and industry organizations investing in workforce development across the region.
“This year’s winners embody the spirit of innovation and excellence in economic development,” IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle said. “Their outstanding accomplishments have not only enhanced their own communities but also serve as shining examples of impactful and sustainable economic development worldwide.”
IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize programs, projects and individuals in the economic development field. The Washington-based organization describes itself as the world’s largest association for economic development professionals.
The 2026 award recipients are scheduled to be recognized during IEDC’s annual conference in New Orleans in October. The awards coincide with the organization’s 100th anniversary.
