SHREVEPORT, La. — Regions Bank recently hosted the Shreveport-Bossier Open House and Community Day, a neighborhood-powered event designed to bring essential resources directly to residents. Held on Saturday, June 21, the event drew dozens of participants seeking everything from financial guidance and job training to food assistance and local support services.
The goal was simple: remove barriers and make help accessible.
“We started this event to help close the gap between essential services and the people who need them,” said Paige Lasyone, Branch Manager for Regions Bank in Bossier City. “Whether it’s helping someone open their first savings account or connecting a family with local support, we’re committed to showing up for our community.”
Lasyone launched the first Community Day in 2023 while working in Minden, and expanded the initiative to Shreveport-Bossier with support from fellow Regions leaders. This year’s event featured free financial checkups from Regions associates, mortgage support Q&A, and one-on-one assistance in navigating financial products and services.
Among those participating was Kay Goke, Regions Digital Experience Researcher and recipient of the 2025 Lee Ann Petty Heart of Service Award. Goke, also a volunteer firefighter and founder of the local Regions Military Support Community, saw a unique opportunity to bring both her passions together.
“Seeing the organizations out there—especially the Shreveport Fire Department—was a big deal for me,” said Goke. “That same week, we also partnered with associates to offer Regions Next Step® financial education at my public safety youth camp.”
The event also featured contributions from United Way of Northwest Louisiana, Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center, and a variety of other nonprofits, small businesses, and service providers—all working together to provide information and access to critical programs.
“We are proud to work with community partners like Regions Bank to create outsized impact,” said Shekinah Robberson, Interim Director of Donor Relations at United Way of Northwest Louisiana. “Many attendees didn’t even realize help was within reach. When businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors unite, we propel people forward and promote prosperity for all.”
The day concluded with a giveaway—one lucky attendee rode away with a Regions green bicycle, symbolizing a fresh start. Just last month, a similar event in Minden saw a local resident who had walked to the event win the bike and open his first Regions account—taking a big step toward long-term financial wellness.
