Shreveport, La. – On Wednesday, January 22, LSU Health Shreveport welcomed 50 high school students from Caddo and Bossier parishes for the annual “Day with Doctors” program, a key initiative of the North Louisiana Area Health Education Center (AHEC). This immersive experience is designed for students with a 3.0 GPA or higher who are interested in pursuing medical careers, offering them hands-on exposure to the field.
Participants toured the LSU Health Shreveport campus and engaged in practical learning activities such as suturing, clinical skills, splinting, and intubation. Faculty, staff, and medical students from LSUHS volunteered their time to guide and mentor the participants, sharing advice on medical school preparation and future career paths in healthcare.
