RUSTON, La. — Louisiana Tech University announced a total fall enrollment of 12,145 students for 2025, marking the institution’s highest enrollment since 2018 and its third consecutive year of growth. The freshman class of 2,416 students is the largest domestic class in the university’s 130-year history.
“Our students are drawn to and prepared for the academic rigor associated with Louisiana Tech,” said President Jim Henderson. “The University is focused on scholarship, teaching, and experiential learning which prepares our graduates for life and career success.”
Louisiana Tech’s enrollment gains are driven by a focus on tailored learning experiences and degree programs designed to meet modern workforce demands. The university offers more than 135 degree programs and has invested in new facilities, research initiatives, and personalized student support to attract and retain students.
“Over the last several years, there’s been a real focus on raising Louisiana Tech’s brand awareness outside of our area, especially in the southern half of the state,” said Trée George, director of undergraduate recruitment and admissions. “Bringing high school counselors to campus and investing heavily in communication with prospective students has led to substantial growth across I-10 from Lake Charles to New Orleans.”
Several academic areas reported double-digit enrollment increases, including forestry, agriculture business, animal science, political science, civil engineering, construction engineering technology, and accounting. Nursing enrollment rose 20 percent, while aviation management grew by 46 percent. Doctoral student enrollment also increased by 8 percent.
The Honors College welcomed 22 percent more freshmen than last year, with an average ACT score of 31.
“Our team works year-round across the state, region, and overseas to make individuals aware of all that Louisiana Tech has to offer,” said Dickie Crawford, senior vice president for student advancement and chief operating officer. “With an emphasis on individual outcomes, we anticipate our newest Bulldogs will enjoy their college experience just as the more than 118,000 alumni before them.”
