Insights from GasBuddy
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, attributed the recent stabilization in prices to a decline in oil costs following President Trump’s remarks at the World Economic Forum, where he urged Saudi Arabia to restore production and lower oil prices. “Crude oil prices are now more than $5 per barrel below levels seen a couple of weeks ago,” said De Haan. He noted that impending U.S. tariff discussions with Canada and Mexico, both significant crude oil suppliers, could potentially impact fuel prices.
“We’ll be watching closely as the February 1 tariff deadline approaches,” De Haan added. “For now, I’m optimistic that tariffs won’t materialize, and prices should remain relatively stable until the seasonal rise typically begins in mid-to-late February.”
