Analyst Insights
“As we approach the year’s end, the momentum for falling gas prices has weakened, which aligns with typical seasonal patterns,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “With oil prices climbing back above $70 per barrel, the potential for further price drops is limited. However, a brief window for lower prices could open in January or February, although it won’t last long.”
De Haan added that while the West Coast, including California, may see further declines, most areas will likely experience stable or slightly rising prices heading into 2025. GasBuddy’s highly anticipated 2025 Fuel Outlook, expected in the coming weeks, will provide a comprehensive forecast for the new year.
