BATON ROUGE, La. — Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Clean Biz Partnership has surpassed 1,000 participating businesses statewide, marking a milestone for the litter-prevention program launched in 2023.
The partnership now includes businesses operating in 49 parishes, along with 44 chambers of commerce across 33 parishes. The program is supported by Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s network of community affiliates and chamber partners, which have helped expand participation since its inception.
The Clean Biz Partnership focuses on encouraging businesses to adopt daily practices aimed at reducing litter, including maintaining clean parking areas, providing trash receptacles at storefronts and keeping dumpster areas orderly. Participation is free and open to businesses of all sizes.
“These 1,000 partners agree litter is bad for business, and it hurts our state’s economy,” said Lieutenant Gov. Billy Nungesser. “Louisiana spends $91.4 million on litter abatement each year. If people didn’t litter, we could use this taxpayer money for other important causes.”
Susan Russell, executive director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, said small actions taken by businesses can have a broader impact. “It’s the simple actions, like keeping parking bays clean and participating in Love the Boot Week, that go a long way,” Russell said.
As part of the partnership, participating businesses commit to taking part in Love the Boot Week, the state’s annual litter removal and beautification initiative, scheduled for April 18-26, 2026. Clean Biz partners also have access to educational workshops and webinars, along with marketing materials such as signage, window clings and social media graphics.
Among the participating companies is Louisiana Blue, which has joined the program through its foundation. “Many health researchers have linked access to clean, green spaces with increased exercise and improved mental health,” said Michael Tipton, Louisiana Blue Foundation president and vice president of community relations.
Sherman’s Glass Inc. is also a Clean Biz partner. “Clean surroundings show our commitment to quality – both in our work and in the place that we call home,” said owner Brandon Phares.
Ouachita Parish, East Baton Rouge Parish and Tangipahoa Parish currently have the highest number of Clean Biz partners, according to Keep Louisiana Beautiful. A full list of participating businesses and chambers is available on the organization’s Clean Biz Partnership webpage.
The Clean Biz Partnership was developed in collaboration with the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Executives.
