BOSSIER CITY – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has reopened the Interstate 20 westbound on-ramp at LA 3105, or Airline Drive, following a full reconstruction tied to the ongoing $128 million I-20 rehabilitation project.
The agency said the westbound off-ramp at Airline Drive is expected to reopen Wednesday. The eastbound on- and off-ramps reopened in October after being rebuilt.
The Airline Drive interchange work is one of several milestones in a project that is rebuilding 3.5 miles of I-20 from Benton Road to Industrial Drive. DOTD said major concrete paving is nearing completion, including reconstruction of all travel lanes, roadway base and interchange ramps. The project also includes new drainage structures, improved street lighting and new striping and signage.
DOTD expects the Barksdale Boulevard and Benton Road on-ramps to westbound I-20 to reopen in late November. The eastbound off-ramp to Benton Road is scheduled to reopen in late December. The overall project is set to conclude in early 2026, depending on weather and other factors.
Commercial motor vehicles remain prohibited from traveling through the work zone between Hamilton Road and Industrial Drive under state statute due to narrow lane widths. DOTD said the restriction will be reassessed as construction progresses, and trucks must continue to use the I-220 detour.
The department urged drivers to use caution through the area and to watch for crews and equipment.
