SHREVEPORT, La. — Roy E. Prestwood, managing partner of Heard, McElroy & Vestal, LLC, has again been named to Forbes’ America’s Best-in-State CPAs list, the firm announced Wednesday.
Prestwood remains the only CPA in North Louisiana to receive the recognition, according to the firm.
Forbes created the Best-in-State CPAs list to recognize accounting professionals for achievements in public accounting, industry influence, thought leadership and service to clients and communities. Honorees are selected through independent nominations, editorial research and industry input.
“The result is a collection of elite CPAs who are leading the profession effectively and honorably in such areas as tax, auditing, valuation and management consulting,” Forbes said in a statement included in the announcement.
Prestwood, who is licensed in Louisiana and Texas, has more than 30 years of public accounting experience. Before becoming managing partner, he served as a tax partner in the firm’s Shreveport office, advising closely held businesses and clients in the healthcare and oil and gas sectors.
He joined HMV in 1998 and became a partner in 2001. Prestwood previously served as the firm’s personnel development partner from 2009 to 2017 and currently chairs its executive board and partner compensation committee.
Prestwood earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Centenary College and a master of business administration degree from the University of Houston.
HMV said Prestwood has remained active in professional and civic organizations focused on economic development, education and community engagement throughout the Ark-La-Tex region.
