Annual Cook-Off Supports Volunteers for Youth Justice’s Mission
Shreveport, LA – The Battle of the Gumbo Gladiators is set to return on March 8, 2025, at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport, bringing together some of the best gumbo chefs in the region for a day of culinary competition, entertainment, and community support. Hosted by Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ), the event not only highlights Louisiana’s signature dish but also raises funds for programs benefiting at-risk youth and families in the Shreveport-Bossier community.
This year, a new addition promises to spice things up—internet-famous Louisiana cook and personality Stalecracker will host an exclusive Pre-Party at 11:00 AM, just before the competition begins. The event, presented by Morris & Dewett Injury Attorneys, offers fans a chance to meet Stalecracker, watch live cooking demonstrations, and build excitement for the day’s festivities.
“We are always looking for ways to enhance the Gumbo Gladiators experience, and bringing Stalecracker to the event will add a whole new level of energy,” said Alex Person, Director of Community Engagement for VYJ. “This event is a celebration of Louisiana culture, food, and community, and we can’t wait to see who will take home the top prize this year! We want to thank Morris and Dewett for bringing this pre-party to Gumbo Gladiators.”
A Day of Food, Fun, and Family-Friendly Activities
Attendees can expect a variety of gumbo styles prepared by competing teams, as well as live entertainment, local vendors, and family-friendly activities. Children will have access to a FREE Children’s Area, provided by Joey Prudhome State Farm.
