SHREVEPORT, La. – The Greater Shreveport Chamber welcomed 46 high school juniors and seniors from Caddo Parish Public Schools this week as part of its 2025 Youth Leadership Program.
The students gathered Sept. 3 for a retreat at the Chamber’s downtown headquarters. The day included team-building exercises, group discussions and a simulated society exercise designed to encourage leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
“Congratulations to the newest class of Youth Leadership participants,” said Keith Burton, superintendent of Caddo Parish Public Schools. “The Greater Shreveport Chamber’s program serves as a bridge between classroom learning and real-world leadership.”
Chamber President Tim Magner said the program is intended to help students see themselves as contributors to the community’s future. “This retreat allows students to begin to create connections across the community and encourage a renewed commitment to serving and leading,” he said.
The year-long program, a partnership between the Chamber and the school district, will include sessions on civic and business issues in the region. Students were nominated by school and district leaders.
