BOSSIER CITY, LA – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a division of General Dynamics, has reported a $358 million economic impact in Louisiana for 2024, according to an independent study by Louisiana Tech University’s Center for Economic Research. The company has become a driving force for job creation and technology sector expansion in the region over the past decade.
“Ten years ago, we began a partnership with Louisiana Economic Development to grow jobs in the state, produce a pipeline of technology talent, and expand the IT industry in the region,” said Paul Nedzbala, GDIT senior vice president for the federal civilian division. “We are proud to not only meet but exceed these growth goals.”
Workforce Expansion and Economic Growth
GDIT employs over 1,500 workers statewide, with 850 stationed at its flagship Integrated Technology Center on the National Cyber Research Park campus in Bossier City. These roles focus on advanced technology, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and software development.
The report projects that GDIT’s contributions to Louisiana’s economy could reach $3.5 billion over the next 10 years, further cementing its role as a critical player in the region’s economic and technological landscape.
Strategic Partnerships with Higher Education
GDIT has cultivated partnerships with local higher education institutions to nurture IT talent and foster workforce development. Collaborations with schools such as Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC), Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, and others provide students with real-world IT experience through internships and mentorship programs.
A notable partnership with BPCC in Natchitoches launched in 2023 offers students part-time and full-time roles, creating a direct pathway to high-wage IT careers.
Investing in Employee Growth
GDIT has also prioritized employee development, with a focus on advanced tech skills. To date, Louisiana-based employees have earned nearly 900 technical and business certifications, with 60% participating in ongoing education. Additionally, the workforce boasts a significant number of security clearances, and nearly one-third are military veterans.
Building Louisiana’s Future
The company’s efforts have not only driven economic gains but have also helped establish Louisiana as a growing hub for technological innovation and skilled labor.
