SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport declined 1 cent per gallon over the past week, reaching $2.33 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations in the area.
Shreveport’s average price is now 2.6 cents higher than a month ago but 30 cents lower than a year ago. Diesel prices across the United States also fell, down 4.2 cents from last week to $3.585 per gallon.
GasBuddy data showed a wide spread in local fuel prices, with the cheapest station in Shreveport priced at $2.20 per gallon and the most expensive at $2.99, a 79-cent difference. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $1.99 to $2.99 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline edged down 0.9 cents per gallon in the past week to $2.83. The national average is up 3.9 cents from a month ago but remains 21.3 cents below year-ago levels.
Over the past five years, Shreveport’s average gas prices have fluctuated from a low of $2.14 in 2021 to a high of $3.15 in 2023. The national average during that same period ranged from $2.42 to $3.46 per gallon.
Current gas prices in nearby areas include Little Rock at $2.36 per gallon, unchanged from last week; Dallas at $2.45, down 8.9 cents; and the Louisiana state average at $2.37, down 2.9 cents.
“While oil prices jumped to their highest level in months amid geopolitical tensions, a weakening U.S. dollar, and supply concerns, the national average price of gasoline saw little change compared to a week ago,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Just over half of states saw gas prices decline, led by Indiana, Ohio, and other price-cycling states that had previously seen prices jump but have since started to fall. Meanwhile, prices are rising across much of the West Coast as the transition to summer gasoline begins and attention turns to another refinery shutdown in California expected in April. Over the coming weeks, we’re likely to see more states experiencing increases than decreases.”
GasBuddy, a PDI Technologies company, tracks prices at more than 150,000 U.S. stations and compiles over 11 million price reports each week.
