SHREVEPORT, La. — Average gasoline prices in Shreveport fell 10.8 cents per gallon last week, reaching $2.61 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 177 stations in the city.
Prices in Shreveport are up 0.3 cents from a month ago and 5.6 cents higher than a year earlier. The cheapest station in the city was priced at $2.42 per gallon Sunday, while the most expensive was $3.19, a gap of 77 cents. Across Louisiana, prices ranged from $2.37 to $3.39.
The national average price of gasoline rose 2.2 cents to $3.14 per gallon. The average is unchanged from a month ago and 1.8 cents lower than a year ago. Diesel prices increased 0.7 cents to $3.67 per gallon.
Neighboring markets reported mixed movements. Prices in Little Rock rose 4 cents to $2.75 per gallon, Dallas saw a 16.6-cent drop to $2.75, and the Louisiana statewide average fell 4 cents to $2.70.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said price cycling in several states contributed to the national uptick. “Now that much of the nation has begun the transition to cheaper winter gasoline and with driving demand seasonally tapering off as temperatures dip, gas prices face additional downward pressure,” De Haan said. “We’re still on track to potentially see the national average fall below $3 per gallon for the first time in years this autumn.”
Historical averages show Shreveport drivers paying $2.56 per gallon on this date in 2024, $3.25 in 2023, and $1.85 in 2020. Nationally, the average stood at $3.16 a year ago and $2.20 in 2020.
