Geopolitical Tensions Fueling the Spike
“With Israel and Iran trading attacks over the past week, oil prices have continued to climb—and gasoline prices are following suit, rising at a pace we haven’t seen since last summer,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
He added that nearly all states are experiencing price increases, with diesel seeing the sharpest spike. While rumors of apocalyptic gas price surges are circulating online, De Haan called them “wildly inaccurate,” instead forecasting a moderate continued rise of 7 to 15 cents per gallon in the coming week for gas, and 10 to 20 cents for diesel.
“These forecasts remain fluid and could shift quickly depending on global developments,” said De Haan. “We encourage motorists to stay tuned to GasBuddy for the latest updates and insights.”
