SHREVEPORT, La. — FRST, the First Responder Support Team, will serve a Christmas morning breakfast to local first responders who are working during the holiday.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Christmas Day, volunteers will serve pancakes, bacon and beverages at Jack’s Bar-B-Que, 1301 N. Market St. The meal is available to all first responders actively on shift.
First responders who are able to leave their posts may stop by the restaurant to eat on site. Volunteers will also deliver meals to stations and duty locations for those unable to step away from their assignments.
“First responders sacrifice time with their families to keep our community safe, especially on holidays,” said Eric Hoffman, executive director of FRST. “This is a small but meaningful way to say thank you and to remind them that their service does not go unnoticed.”
Organizers said approximately 100 meals were served during last year’s Christmas breakfast and that preparations are in place to serve more than double that number this year.
FRST is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides support services to local law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, veterans and linemen. Its programs focus on mental health support, emergency financial assistance and guidance in accessing available resources.
