The Republican Women of Bossier hosted Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming, M.D., as their featured guest speaker on Monday, Sept. 23, during the group’s monthly meeting. Fleming, who is also a candidate for the U.S. Senate, spoke about fiscal responsibility, conservative values, and his vision for Louisiana’s future.
Members and guests filled the room as Fleming outlined his priorities if elected, including reducing federal spending, securing the nation’s borders, and strengthening Louisiana’s economic opportunities. “Washington needs leaders who understand both business and service to the public,” Fleming said. “I’m committed to representing Louisiana with common sense, accountability, and integrity.”
Fleming is no stranger to Louisiana politics or public service. A Minden native and practicing physician, he served four terms in Congress representing Louisiana’s 4th District from 2009 to 2017. During that time, he became known as a strong fiscal conservative and a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus. In 2017, he was appointed by President Donald Trump to serve in the Department of Health and Human Services and later worked in the White House as Deputy Chief of Staff for Planning and Implementation.
Since 2020, Fleming has served as Louisiana’s State Treasurer, where he oversees the state’s investments and financial management. His campaign for U.S. Senate builds on decades of experience in medicine, business ownership, and public office.
The event was part of the Republican Women of Bossier’s ongoing efforts to connect members with state and national leaders. The organization regularly hosts speakers who provide insight into current political issues, policy debates, and opportunities for civic engagement.
